The development of ROADMAP commenced in February 2003 from a blank canvas with the twin objectives of adherence to e-government ideals - value of money, transparency of operation and accountability etc. and the control of all facets of roadworks for the betterment of all.
Francis Moran B.E. (Electrical) joined the Technical I.T. Section Of Dublin
County Council in 1974 as a software engineer. In 1984 he became I.T Manager, a
position he occupied for 10 years. In 1994 he joined and took responsibility
for the Electrical Section of South Dublin County Council and developed the
PLMS (Public Lightning Management System), an office automation product. In
2003 he added the Roadworks Control Unit operations to his portfolio and so
ROADMAP was born.

Tom Leacy B.Sc. (Computer Science), NCCC (National Certificate Commercial Computing)
worked in the private sector for 15 years at various levels including Project Manager and Systems
Analyst before joining the IT department in South Dublin County Council in 2003. He has been
working on the ROADMAP system since joining South Dublin.

John Power B.E. (Civil), Dip Comp Eng, joined Dublin County Council's Bridges
& Structures Section in 1970. In 1976 he joined Dublin Corporation's
Traffic Department becoming involved in roadworks control. Subsequently he
joined the Road Maintenance Section of Dublin County Council in 1984, initially
as Area Engineer. He has since been involved in the development of CAD/GIS
systems utilizing MapInfo, MapBasic, AutoCAD, ArcIMS, Access & SQL server.

Gareth Moran, the youngest member, joined the design team in Summer 2003 as the
Graphics Designer, empowered to provide an aesthetic and pleasing interface. He
left to undertake the Microsoft Certified Application Developer course and
provide freelance web development.

the road opening does not meet the above criteria it should be a T2. In the case of an emergency a T4 application
should be sought.
